Not known to transmit any human or animal pathogens.
Plant Pathogens and Organisms Vectored:
Passionfruit yellow mosaic virus, mimosa mosaic virus, and purple granadillamosaic virus (Germain, 2000).
Morphological: Diabrotica speciosa is almost identical to D. balteata which covers the whole southern U.S. in huge numbers. Confirmation by a Chrysomelid specialist is required.
Present in U.S.: Diabrotica balteata
Not present in U.S.: Diabrotica viridula, other pestiferous Diabrotica species in South America.
