Leek moth

Acrolepiopsis assectella

Leek moth (Acrolepiopsis assectella) is an insect pest. It is a native of Asia and was first detected in Ottawa in 1990.

This insect is an important pest of onions and related Allium species. Larval feeding damages all parts of the plant, including bulbs, thereby causing rot when stored.
