Island apple snail

Pomacea insularum

Island apple snail (Pomacea insularum) is a mollusk pest. It is a native of South America and was first detected in Florida in 2004.

These snails are a threat because they eat virtually all types of aquatic plants, reproduce rapidly, repeatedly, and profusely, have bfew predators in Florida and threaten native species by habitat alteration, competition, and aquatic plant eradication .
