Ambrosia beetle

Megaplatypus mutatus

Ambrosia beetle (Megaplatypus mutatus) is an insect pest of hardwood and fruit trees.

This pest can infest many trees, including poplar, willow, apple, walnut, and avocado. The larval galleries degrade lumber and weaken stems, which may subsequently break during windstorms.

For more information about this plant pest, see the CAPS data sheet and the CABI data sheet.
