Xylella fastidiosa

Citrus variegated chlorosis (Xylella fastidiosa) is a bacterial pathogen.

Xylella fastidiosa is introduced into citrus plants by sharpshooter leafhoppers. Sharpshooters feed on plant xylem and acquire the bacteria during feeding, and then spread it when they move and feed on a new plant.
