Identification
ID/Diagnostic: Morphological
Morphological: Adult females can be distinguished at the genus and species level based on morphological characters observed on cleared slide-mounted specimens. Species level identification cannot be performed on nymphs or adult males. See the CPHST Pest Datasheet for more information.
Mistaken Identities:
Other armored scales of citrus, Lepidosaphes spp., Unaspis citri, and Unaspis euonymi.
Notes:
Unaspis citri is present in Florida and Louisiana and shares many of the same host plants as U. yanonensis. Unaspis euonymi occurs throughout the United States and is most often found on Euonymus spp., although it is known to occur on other hosts.
