Identification
ID/Diagnostic: Morphological
Morphological: All stages are similar to other Ceroplastes species. Ceroplastes japonicus is most commonly confused with Ceroplastes floridensis. Adult females can be distinguished based on morphological characters in slide-mounted specimens.

Present in the U.S.: Ceroplastes brachyurus, Ceroplastes ceriferus, Ceroplastes cirripediformis, Ceroplastes dugesii, Ceroplastes feltyi, Ceroplastes floridensis, Ceroplastes irregularis, Ceroplastes nakaharai, Ceroplastes rubens, Ceroplastes rusci, Ceroplastes sinensis, and Ceroplastes utilis.
