Identification
ID/Diagnostic: Morphological
Morphological: the size and color of Nysius huttoni bugs are extremely variable. The insects resemble many native lygaeids. Identification can be made by careful observation under a microscope by a Hemipteran specialist. There are four key characters used to identify this species; use Brambila (2009).
Mistaken Identities:
Present in U.S.: 12 native Nysius species and Rhypodes cognatus.
Not present in U.S.: Nysius vinitor
