Method Notes:
  1. Collect lower branches of walnut trees. Branch diameter should be 1.5 cm or greater. Insect may be in branches that are faded in color, or in fresh, green ones. Dissect the branches and look for all insect lifestages.
  2. Examine the bark surface for signs of colonization, including galleries in exposed bark and fungal staining. If signs of colonization are present, peel back the bark to collect any larvae or adults.
