ID/Diagnostic: Morphological
Morphological. Refer to the Identification section of the Khapra Beetle Program Manual for further information. Morphological determinations of "Trogoderma sp. (not granarium)" are considered negative results. No additional information is required for specimens with final determinations of "Trogoderma sp. (not granarium)." Any suspect positives require molecular confirmation.
Mistaken Identities:
In the United States, the khapra beetle is most likely to be confused with Trogoderma variabile (warehouse beetle). Other species that khapra beetle may be confused with are Trogoderma versicolor (European larger carpet beetle) and Trogoderma glabrum (glabrous carpet beetle).
