Pine Wilt Nematode (Pinewood) (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus) is a nematode pest.
The Pine Wilt Nematode needs an insect vector (the Pine Sawyer Beetle) to carry it to new host trees. It enters the tree at the beetles feeding site, multiplies rapidly and clogs the water/resin channels, wilting, then killing the tree.. |
