Cotton Cutworm (Spodoptera litura) is an insect pest of many important food plants. It is a native of Asia and was first detected in Hawaii.
Though S. litura is not established in the continental US, it poses a high risk to plant health. International commerce provides recognized avenues of introduction.
This insect pest has been identified by USDA-APHIS as a serious threat to US Agriculture and Natural Resources, and surveys have been planned for multiple states.
