Redhaired Pine Bark Beetle (Hylurgus ligniperda) is an insect pest of pine trees. It is a native of Europe and was first detected in New York in 1994.

This pest poses a large risk to U.S. plant health. International commerce provides recognized avenues of introduction. If you think you have seen this pest, contact your state plant regulatory official. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
