European Oak Bark Beetle
Scolytus intricatus European Oak Bark Beetle (Scolytus intricatus) is an insect pest. These tiny, destructive beetles bore through oak bark to lay their eggs. The larvae hatch and feed on the inner bark and interrupt water movement in the tree. Infested trees show wilting, slow growth and will eventually die. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
