Japanese Pine Sawyer (Monochamus alternatus) is an insect pest of non-native pine trees. It is a native of Japan.
Carrier of the pine wilt nematode, which causes wilt disease of non-native pine trees. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
This insect pest has been identified by USDA-APHIS as a serious threat to US Agriculture and Natural Resources, and surveys have been planned for multiple states.
